Network Security
Traditionally when we think of network security, we tend to think of a strong firewall. Well, this is only half of the picture as nowadays attacks come in many different forms. A good firewall is very important because it enables the customer to control what goes through it, who has access to what services and have the monitoring tools to see who is using what resources. Most attacks now come from the inside through malware. Nowadays, malware is becoming more dangerous because it enables hackers to see what you are doing, what types of documents you have on your server or local hard drive, get hold of passwords. Our advice is to periodically check for these malware traces, keep an eye and monitor firewall logs and activity in order to make sure nobody is watching over you without knowing. For larger companies, it is good practice to draft up a company policy on who has access to what, define levels of access and eventually create the necessary rules on the firewall and security groups on the server so access is controlled.
